Getting Acquainted   MIKE AND LISA GRUBB City and State you and your spouse were reared: Mike grew up in Pen Argyl, PA and Lisa grew up in Piscataway, NJ. They both reside in Bushkill Twp, PA now. How long have you been members of Straightway Baptist Church? Mike joined the church in September of 2010 and Lisa has been a member since the beginning in 2006. Who invited you to join our church, or what interested you in joining our church? Lisa invited Mike to come to church back in 2009. Comments about Pastor Guarneri: Pastor is a God-fearing, hardworking, dedicated man of the Lord. His preaching is based solely on Scripture and not personal opinions. He lives and believes what he preaches.       Interesting story, incident, or answer to prayer:  From Mike: In the fall of 2004 during Hurricane Ivan, a fellow rescuer and myself were operating at a scene of a raging flood. A family was trapped in the second  story of their residence by flood waters as the water level continued to rise endangering all of them as well as the structural stability of their residence. We both proceeded to make our way toward the residence in our aluminum rescue boat. Along the way out boat experienced mechanical problems and we lost all power to the engine, all steering, and all control of the boat. With the raging conditions of the water, it caused our boat to capsize dumping the two of us into the raging waters. Once I surfaced, I looked around for my partner and he was nowhere is sight. At that time I thought that  when we went under, he must have gotten caught on some submerged debris keeping him from surfacing. With the strength of the water and the  struggle I was going through to keep myself above the surface, there was no way possible I was going to be able to help him and I felt so helpless. I  said a quick prayer pleading to God to save the life of my partner, myself as well as to protect the family in the house that we were no longer going to be able to help. Within about 10 minutes, I was able to get myself to dry land. I proceeded to search for my partner from the shore whom I located stranded in a tree in the middle of the flood waters with a broken arm, but still alive. At that time, the flood waters began to diminish saving both the family that was trapped in the house, as well of the structure itself. The water level got to a low enough point that a rescue attempt of my partner was a success, and everyone was out of harms way. I can not begin to express the feeling of joy and happiness I felt that day when I knew my partner, the family, and I were all safe and sound. God is great!!!! Give us your salvation testimony: (Mike) When I was 20 years old, I heard an amazing sermon that both touched my heart and spirtutally moved my soul. At the conclusion of that service, I told the Lord that I do believe that his son Jesus died for my sins, and I asked God to forgive me of my sins and save me. Give us your spouse’s testimony: (Lisa) When I was 5 years old, my dad (Pastor Guarneri), lead me to the Lord after church one Sunday outside on a picnic table in Piscataway, NJ. When I was about 12 years old, I made sure of my salvation at High Point Camp with Rachel Osterhoudt after a evening service. Of what ministries are you a part of?  Mike and Lisa are active soulwinners and help set up and take down the church services each week.
